My Hands

I used to have a real thing about my hands. They’re big hands. With big knuckles. And compared to the rest of me look very out of proportion. They just kind of dangle off the end of my long skinny arms! I used to be so self-conscious about them, but over the years I’ve learned to love them. I think I just needed to figure out what to do with them!

Right now I wish I had a few extra ones.

Extra hands always sound useful but would look so weird.. I'm the opposite with my hands. Ive got small short fingers and here I am doing pottery, plus I play violin/viola. I might have an ear for music but I missed the traditional finger type. I'm enjoying your blog and "Sandwich Mountain", which is aloso a favourite with my five year old. Sandra.

oh, i have a *thing* too. my hands look like they belong to an 80 year old! which would be fine if i were 50 years younger (ok, 45 years younger)....

You would have to spend a fortune on all the hand cream and gloves you would go through in winter. Imagine how long it would take to cut your nails? M would get teased at school for having a multi-handed mummy. You would need extra feet to balance out the extra hands. I think it would be just easier to clone yourself!

I used to feel bad about my hands but my mother told me I should be thankful.

What about if they were detachable? That could work.

Your hands look both sensitive & capable; what you do with them is
a joy, next time I'm in brisbane I'll
look for your work.
